Reflection Post

When I truly look back on the beginning of the year in art class, I realize how much I have changed. The class has taught me different ways to look and art and different ways to make art that are not the usual. I have learned that even trash can be made into art and how important some artists have been outside the world of just art. I have learned many different approaches and ways to draw certain things. For example, through the bike and candy jar drawing I learned how to draw in perspectives and make it look 3-D with only the shading of a pencil. I learn how to work with clay and make it into a functional piece. I also learned how to glaze and techniques for glazing in order to bring out its full effect. All in all it was a great year of learning, discovering, and even re-teaching art techniques and other things in the art class.

Time Capsule

The items I put into my box are not extremely sentimental items, but they are items that describe and a reminder of my current self to my future self. My box is filled mainly by sports merchandise or tickets to soccer games and many other sporty things that I could fit in the small box. When deciding what to put in my box, I decided to put in items that I feel my future self would appreciate to be reminded by, it will help me remember some of my good times when I was in high school. This time capsule will mean a lot to me in the future even though the items don't mean much to me right now. It will be the items reminding me of my past self that will make it important to have them in. My box contains my clippings and tickets from things I participated in and things that I did. This way, when I am older I can look back and remember my interests and even compare them to my current interests. I also tried to put in some current events and prices so I can later compare the difference in the many years that I plan to wait before opening and see how far we have come.

Story pole story

Being a professional sports player is just about every kids goal. Then the older they get the more they realize that their goal may be unattainable. This is how it is for me with soccer. I grew up watching soccer as well as playing it. I was influenced greatly by my role models who were professional soccer players. They influenced me by having me set my goal on being a professional soccer player. I worked hard on conditioning, strength training, and control. I never stopped training and I continue it to this day. As I grew older I realized the difficulty of reaching my goal but I never gave up. I continue to look up to professional players as role models and continue to train. I always trained every day to get better and better and I continue to train to come closer to my goal. Through teammates and coaches I improve every day, getting closer to my goal. Although playing professional soccer will be hard to get to, it never stopped me and my work ethic to achieve it.

Fortune Cookie

The fortune cookie artwork was difficult to complete. To make an artwork out of words on a piece of paper was hard until you get a reaction from it. The fortune I choose to do was as follows, "Every man is a volume if you know how to read him". This can be taken in many ways. The way I decided to draw it was by making the fortune one of the first things seen and by having it appear more than once. I also drew many things that come to mind when you think of volume. It was a thought provoking process that took a while to make and think about

Pop Print

Pop Print

The pop print project was one that I enjoyed to do because of what you could do with it. The process of making the print and carving the stamp was time consuming and delicate work, but in the end it was all worth it. After finally deciding on a object that you thought would be good to draw, you had to spend a long time trying to draw a representation of it in your eyes. After drawing it, the drawing would get transferred to the stamp where you would then have to carve it in the way that you want. The object I used was a highlighter. I did two of them. It was such a common object that it would seem boring or dull, but that is why I choose it. To show what the pop print can make a everyday object look. The pop prints can use different colors or carvings in different places to make it stand out. The highlighters I did I tried to make stand out, but also blend in. It is common objects like these that art can make interesting and have us look at them in a whole new way.

Art Times 3

Art Times 3

This assignment was far from easy but it was also far from boring. No one knew what you would have to work with until you picked it randomly yourself. The best and worst part was getting the artwork from someone else. You had to see what they were working on and get a feeling from it that inspired you to make something out of it. Some of them wouldn't inspire you, but others would a lot. There was no way to tell what would happen to your artwork and you couldn't walk up to the person and tell them what to do. You had to give your artwork up after a short time and start to work on someone elses. The theme was celebrities and everyone had a separate opinion or view. The life experience I got from this is you have to deal with what life gives you. If you are given a bad or good artwork you had to deal with it in your own way in little time.

This is how the piece that I finished turned out. I am happy with the way it depicts celebrities. You can't find a good place to focus. Celebrities have lives that are so chaotic that there is no way to focus on one thing, yet you can focus on everything in layers.
